Hello world!

Our Theme for this year’s Glides Project is How can we reduce the ecological footprints of our school in order to preserve our natural resources.
Our teachers are already planning some wonderful learning experiences by using a project based learning approach. some of the ideas forthcoming are the building of models that will demonstrate the use of energy efficient equipment. Another idea is looking at the nearby landfill known as Mt. Pompano. Surveys will help the students understand how and what the community knows and understands about their ecological footprints. Another great idea is establishing a cultural exchange with a foreign country to understand now they are handling their ecological footprint.

Does anyone know how I can submit my lesson plan to the googledoc that I can’t get signed into (even with my gmail account)?

Well, I don’t know which Googledoc it is. That’s a big part of the problem. At the Broward Glides training at Pompano High school, they told us we would be invited to put our lesson plans there and that was all I knew.
Someone did send me a bulk email notifying me that I haven’t placed by lesson plan on the googledoc yet, but guess what… no name for the document, no response to my email either.
I can’t meet their expectations if they don’t give me instructions. If you know where to go, I’d be happy to have this off my mind. Thanks, Mary.

I am on my way now with getting the kids started in this project. We brainstormed today and we are going to have the students conduct an interview and newscast with a representative from FPL.

Phil, how did you get your pic in the corner of your message?

Phil, I emailed Gordon Worley to ask him to contact you via your CAB address. He was the one I originally sent my lesson to… I know he got it because I got an email back saying that I still had an opportunity to revise before they started posting lessons… You can email him too, if you haven’t already, at worley@firn.edu. Hope that helps. I tried. As far as not being able to get into GoogleDocs, that’s weird. Did you forget the password for your gmail account? Maybe go to gmail.com to log in, then click on ‘documents’ at the top and get in that way…?

These are prompt questions to initiate thinking about the project:
What does this make you think of?
In what ways are these different?
In what ways are these the same?
What materials did you use?
What would happen if you …
What might you try instead?
Tell me about your …?
What does it look like?
What does it remind you of?
What does it feel like?
What can you do next time?
What can you tell me about it?
Tell me what happened.
What could you do instead?
Which one do you have more of?
Is one object longer/shorter than another?
What do you call the things you are using?
What can you tell me about the things you have?
Tell me what it looks like.
How are you going to do that?
What do you feel, see, hear, taste, smell?
How did you do that?
What will you do next after you finish that?
Is there anything else you could do/use?
How do you know?
What are some different things you could try?
What is it made of?
Show me what you could do with it?

Hey Melissa,
I went to the account button, clicked on “edit profile” and chose my picture the same way you do it on myspace.
Hope that helps.
